Connors, Rumpf & Gove: Murphy’s Cut to Ocean County’s Vaccine Supply Is Appalling & Insult to Unvaccinated Seniors
Senator Christopher Connors, Assemblyman Brian Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove called out Governor Murphy’s Administration for cutting vaccine doses to Ocean County, as the County Health Department is set to receive 400 less doses from the previous week, despite the County’s considerable senior population and high demand for the vaccine.

“The Murphy Administration’s misguided decision to cut Ocean County’s vaccine supply is yet another example of the state’s failed COVID vaccination policies that is undermining the public’s trust in the process. Seniors and veterans deserve priority treatment and the state formula should account for this to allow for more vaccine to be released to Ocean County.

“The numbers don’t lie. Spending has increased more than 30 percent since Governor’s Murphy’s first year, to the surprise of few. His most recent proposed State Budget is chock full of spending for new programs or increases for existing ones.

Connors, Rumpf & Gove: Trenton Should Focus on Necessity, Not Politics, In Distribution of Federal CARES Act Funding

The 9th District delegation’s statement follows the release of a report by the State Auditor last week showing that New Jersey has spent barely 10% of the $2.4 billion in federal relief funds it received six months ago.
Since that report was issued, the governor has announced plans to release small amounts of funding to help local governments, restaurants, and small businesses that have been begging for aid since March.
“For months, Trenton has sat on billions of dollars in federal funding sent by Washington as a lifeline to New Jersey residents and businesses. Those emergency relief funds weren’t meant to collect dust in the State’s coffers. Inexcusably, this funding has been too slow in getting to the people who need it most, including those who are essential in jumpstarting the state’s economy.

“Taxpayers in this state are growing increasingly apprehensive about the economic uncertainty created by the response to COVID-19. Yet with so much on the line for families and retirees, Trenton failed to pass a State Budget that addresses taxpayers’ immediate concerns about tax relief and jumpstarting the state’s economy.
“Ramrodded through by the Majority Party Leadership and expected to be signed quickly by the Governor, the State Budget has more than $200 million in pork barrel spending that could, otherwise, be used for property tax relief. The budget relies on increasing taxes on employers and health insurance policies that, undoubtedly, will be passed down to consumers who will take yet another hit in terms of the already high cost of living in New Jersey.
